Mountains: Love 'em! they are ancient, daunting, remote, challenging and true! there is little else that can replace the quite solitude of an exposed mountain ledge.

Scouting & the Adventure: these two fit together like breathing in and breathing out. I have always thought of the Senior Scout Adventure as the exclamation mark of my Scouting life, and now have four !!!! to look back on with fantastic memories.

Experience: counts a bit when dealing with mountains, and I have a little. This will be my fourth stint as a base member of mountaineering. I have hiked numerous routes in the Cederberg and other ranges in the Western Cape, as well as some limited time spent in the Drakensberg.
