About
I love being amongst mountains; how their moods change with the weather, that feeling of mystery and excitement that comes with being on a cloud shrouded peak, how they can make you feel strong and free and at other times weak, vulnerable and scared. Sneeuberg is a special peak to me, maybe not the highest but there’s something about its exposed scramble to the summit, 360 degree view and how the colours of the rock change as the sun sets that makes it one of my favourites! So often you hear of people “conquering” a peak...mountains can never be conquered, one day they may allow you up into a secret world but on another they’ll spit you off with indifference. So respect their power, treat them well, enjoy their magic and climb them only for purest of reasons. When I can’t get to any mountains (The closest Joburg has to mountains is Northcliff hill and a fine selection of mine dumps!) I find the magic in mountainbiking, sailing, ultimate frisbee and of course bouldering/buildering!

There are only three sports - bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games
